Lady Colonels hitting on all cylinders, defeat Rockcastle County in three sets

WILLIAMSBURG — Whitley County displayed no signs of a letdown after Monday’s three-set sweep of Corbin during its match with Rockcastle County 24 hours later.

The Lady Colonels (23-9) overcame a slow start, but got hot and never looked back during their 25-23, 25-10, and 25-21 victory over the Lady Rockets.

“Another good win for our team,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “We were able to overcome some mistakes early on and played much better in the second set. Rockcastle challenged us in some ways and I thought they played well.

“It seems we are peaking at just the right time, but we need to get back in the gym and practice on some things that need to be fixed as we head into postseason play,” he added. “We have our senior night Thursday and it will be a special night for us.”
