WILLIAMSBURG — Corbin continued its dominance against Whitley County on Friday.
The Redhounds improved to 25-0 all-time against the Colonels by crushing to an easy 49-0 victory.
Corbin scored by ground and air on offense while also adding a touchdown on defense as well.
Quarterback Kade Elam threw four touchdowns and moved his offense easily throughout the contest. He now has 86 career touchdown passes, which is a school record. Estep finished with two touchdown receptions while Colton Creekmore and Noah Cima each reeled in one apiece.
Luke Salmons’ squad jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back, improving to 7-1 overall, and 2-0 against district opponents while Whitley County falls to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in district play.
“I’m proud of our kids starting fast,” Salmons said. “We didn’t have a lot of penalties or mistakes. Our defense played great, and our offense played great. We got to play a lot of kids tonight which is always good. I feel like we’re progressing at the right time.”
Corbin wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, driving down the field and scoring on a three-yard touchdown run by Cam Estep with 5:27 remaining in the first quarter to give the Redhounds a 7-0 lead.
Salmons’ squad scored two minutes later to push their lead to 14-0 thanks to a 34-yard touchdown pass from Kade Elam to Colton Creekmore.
Corbin continued its dominance during the opening minute of the second quarter with Elam throwing a 65-yard dart to Cam Estep to make the score 21-0.
The Redhounds’ fourth touchdown of the game came thanks to a fumble recovery by Zack Reynolds that he took back 60 yards to give Corbin a commanding 28-0 lead at the 7:04 mark of the second quarter.
Salmon’s squad scored again through the air a minute before halftime as Elam’s 43-yard touchdown pass to Estep increased the Redhounds’ lead to 35-0.
Elam’s fourth touchdown pass, a 49-yarder at the 10:17 mark of the third quarter, increased the Redhounds’ advantage to 42-0.
Mason Salmons got in the scoring fun for Corbin during the fourth quarter. His four-yard run with 10:46 left in regulation pushed the Redhounds’ cushion to 49-0.
