North Laurel advances to 49th District Tournament title game, and 13th Region Tournament with win over Clay County 

MANCHESTER — North Laurel notched its spot in both the 49th District finals and the 13th Region Tournament with an easy three set win over Clay County during semifinal action of the 49th District Tournament on Tuesday.

The Lady Jaguars improved to 9-14 on the season and will play in the title game Thursday at 7 p.m.

“We are proud of the girls for making their way back to the 13th Region Tournament,” North Laurel coach James Hendrix said. “They’re playing well right now and I’m looking forward to seeing what they can do this postseason.

“Clay has improved a lot this season,” he added. “Coach Deaton was a great hire for that program. She brings an energy and passion to her teams that’s unmatched. We’re looking forward to Thursday and getting another shot at bringing another district title back to the Northside.”

North Laurel set the tone early, winning the first set, 25-9, before picking up a 25-16 win in the second set. The Lady Jaguars put the match away with a 25-15 win in the third set.
