CORBIN — Mission accomplished.
The Corbin Redhounds entered Friday’s game against Pulaski County with hopes of grabbing a win to help their RPI rating.
The Redhounds got the win, picking up a 28-12 victory as Kade Elam threw two touchdowns while Cole Stevens added two scores in the ground.
Corbin (9-1) got on the scoreboard first as Elam continued to torch opposing teams’ defenses with a 40-yard touchdown pass to Cam Estep at the 6:08 mark to give their team a 7-0 edge.
The Redhounds added onto their lead at the 2:06 mark of the first quarter as Stevens broke free and found paydirt with a six-yard touchdown run to make the score, 14-0.
Pulaski County got on the scoreboard in the second quarter thanks to a one-yard touchdown run to cut its deficit to 14-6 with 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Corbin regained a double digit lead with 7:37 left in the first half as Elam hit Colton Creekmore with a 50-yard touchdown pass to give the Redhounds a 21-6 lead.
Pulaski County answered in the third quarter with a touchdown, cutting its deficit to 21-12 at the 1:21 mark.
Corbin out the finishing touches on its win with 2:04 left in the game behind Steven’s second rushing touchdown.
The Redhounds will now get ready to host an opponent to be determined during first round action of the Class 4A playoffs on Friday.
