North Laurel snapped a three-game losing skid while winning an important district matchup against Whitley County during the process.
The Lady Jaguars entered second half action trailing, 4-3, but two goals by Mikaela Moore ended up giving North Laurel a 5-4 win.
North Laurel evened it’s record to 3-3 overall while moving to 1-1 against 49th District opponents. The Lady Colonels fell to 4-8 overall, and 0-3 against 49th District opponents.
The Lady Jaguars are now a perfect 15-0 against Whitley County.
The first half was full of offensive excitement with both teams combining to score seven goals.
Madison Earls connected with a penalty kick during the 19th minute to give Whitley County an early 1-0 advantage.
Makayla Mastin’s 10th goal of the season during the 23rd minute tied the match at one apiece while an assist by Autumn Sawyers to Deserae Haynes, who found the back of the net net gave the Lady Colonels a 2-1 edge with 13 minutes remaining in the first half.
Mastin answered again during the 34th minute to tie the game at two apiece before teammate Roslyn Valentine gave North Laurel a short-lived 3-2 advantage during the 37th minute.
Haynes added her second goal of the match a minute later to tie the game at three apiece while Earls’ second goal of the match gave her team a 4-3 lead at halftime.
Mikaela Moore tied the game at four apiece after scoring a goal for North Laurel at the 52nd minute while her goal during the 70th minute ended up giving the Lady Jaguars the one-goal win.
Whitley County’s Hayes came close to tying the match but her shot missed off the crossbar during the 78th minute.
