Yellow Jackets cruise to second round action with 50-6 win over Lynn Camp 

WILLIAMSBURG — Jerry Herron’s Williamsburg Yellow Jackets punched its ticket into second round action of the Class A playoffs with a 50-6 win over Lynn Camp on Thursday.

With the game tied at six apiece at the 3:04 mark of the first quarter, Williamsburg reeled off 44 unanswered points to improve to 8-1 while the loss ended the Wildcats season as they finished with a 3-7 record.

The Yellow Jackets also increased their win streak to 20 games against Lynn Camp with their last loss coming to the Wildcats way back in 2005.

Nate Goodin started the game off with a quarterback keeper that went for a score to give Williamsburg a 6-0 lead with 8:03 remaining in the first quarter.

Lynn Camp answered as the Wildcats marched downfield and found paydirt thanks to a touchdown run by DJ Wren to tie the game at six apiece with 3:04 left in the opening period of play.

Goodin came back with his second rushing touchdown a minute and a half later to push Williamsburg’s lead to 14-6.

Goodin’s third rushing touchdown of the game with 9:35 left in the first half increased the Yellow Jackets’ advantage to 22-6.

Eli Meadors scored on a touchdown run at the 7:27 mark of the second quarter to make the score, 28-6.

Goodin’s touchdown pass to Holden Clark capped off the score in the first half as Williamsburg held a comfortable 36-6 lead.

Meadors’ second rushing touchdown of the game increased the Yellow Jackets’ cushion to 44-6 with 10:09 left in the third quarter while Reece Hatcher’s touchdown pass with 2:37 left in the game wrapped up the scoring.
