Dixon’s crystal ball: Will the Redhounds advance to Class 4A State Title game?

Here we are, just two games one win away from watching the Corbin Redhounds in the Class 4A state title game.

But first things first, Corbin must find a way to get past unbeaten Paducah Tilghman, who has steamrolled over its opponents.

I enter this week’s pick’ems game with a 93-32 record with hopes of picking up two more wins this season. With that said, let’s get to today’s pick.

Class 4A, Semi-State

Corbin at Paducah Tilghman

So let’s get right to it. The Blue Tornado are undefeated for a reason — they have a top notch quarterback along with a secondary that ranks as one of the best in the state.

I do expect a high-scoring game. Corbin has been dominant on defense the entire season. The Redhounds will have to step up in the secondary to win this game.

Both teams’ schedule will play a factor in this as well. Corbin has been tested with a competitive schedule where Paducah Tilghman has steamrolled its opponents.

My thoughts? This will be the game Kade Elam shows why he’s the best player in the state.

Great players shine in big moments, and I believe Elam will do just that.

If it’s not a high-scoring game, I’ll be surprised. In the end, a tougher schedule combined with possessing the state’s best player are two reasons why the Redhounds will move one step closer to a Class 4A state crown,

Prediction

Corbin 49, Paducah Tilghman 42
