LIBERTY — The Michael Petrey era at Whitley County High School started off with an impressive 55-37 road win against Casey County on Monday.
The Lady Colonels showed a lot of grit, according to Petrey as they improved to 1-0.
“We are really pleased with the grit our team showed to come away with a great road win to start the season,” he said. “We had several players to contribute and get valuable minutes tonight. We put a lot of emphasis on rebounding the basketball coming into tonight and we feel like we did a great job responding to that. We turned it over more than we would like, but we are showing improvement in that area as well.”
Maddie Hopkins led Whitley County with 18 points while Aubree Clemens added 12 points. Autumn Sawyers chipped in eight points.
