Lambert, Betts combine to score 39 points to lead Middlesboro past East Jessamine

NICHOLASVILLE — Middlesboro freshman Emily Lambert knocked down five 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets to a 62-50 win over East Jessamine on Thursday.

Lambert scored eight points in the first quarter to help give Middlesboro (1-1) an 18-8 lead after the first quarter before adding eight more points in the second quarter, giving her team a 33-25 edge at halftime.

The Lady Yellow Jackets took a 47-45 advantage into the fourth quarter before outscoring the Lady Jaguars, 15-5, in the fourth quarter.

Keevi Betts added 19 points and two 3-pointers in the win while Trinity Derossett added eight points.

Middlesboro will be back in action Tuesday at Barbourville.
