LONDON — A 3-pointer by Jordan Rawlings at the end of regulation forced overtime as North Laurel managed to pull off a 54-53 win over Jeffersontown on Friday.
“I’m really proud of the fight and resiliency we showed tonight,” North Laurel coach Nate Valentine said. “Our guys kept fighting. Our defense kept us in the game tonight. We shot the ball poorly and were still able to get a win against a very good team. We got a lot of contributions from several different guys. Our students in the crowd were great tonight and made a huge difference down the stretch.”
The Jaguars (2-0) trailed throughout the contest before rallying in the fourth quarter. North Laurel trailed 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, 25-20 at halftime and 41-32 entering the fourth quarter before outscoring the Chargers, 17-8, during the game’s final eight minutes.
Reece Davidson recorded a double-double while logging 36 minutes. He scored 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting while pulling down 10 rebounds. He also had three assists and three blocked shots. RJ Noble had 11 points and six rebounds while Rawlings added six points and Joe Smith finished with five points. Corey Cunnagin tallied four points along with Kole Jervis. Cooper Elza chipped in two points.
North Laurel shot 19-of-45 from the floor, including a 4-of-15 effort from 3-point range. The Jaguars hit 12-of-20 free throw attempts and were outrebounded, 33-29.
