Colonels show no sign of fatigue during 86-50 win over Cosby, Tenn.

WILLIAMSBURG — Tennessee’s Cosby High School had no answer for Whitley County’s duo of Riley Fuson and Bryson Mahan during Saturday’s matchup.

Fuson hit four 3-pointers and scored 29 points while Mahan added 24 points to lead the red-hot Colonels to 3-0 with an 86-50 win.

“Great response by our guys,” Whitley County coach Eric Swords said. “We challenged our guys to get off to a better start and they responded starting the game on a 20-2 run.

“We had great contributions from multiple guys,” he added. Riley and Tootie (Bryson Mahan) did a lot of damage scoring, Dee (Parker) set the tone defensively and (Aaron) Rowe set the tone with great unselfish play. It was great to see our other guys knocking down shots as well. Great team effort and win for us.”

Whitley County had just played Friday night, but showed no sign of fatigue.

Mahan scored eight points in the first quarter while Fuson added seven points as the Colonels built a 25-9 edge.

Fuson added two 3-pointers and eight points in the second quarter, helping Whitley County build a 43-27 cushion.

Nine points by Mahan combined with six points by Fuson and four points from Aaron Rowe pushed the Colonels’ lead to 68-40 with eight minutes remaining.

Fuson added eight more points in the fourth quarter while Levi Jackson hit a 3-pointer, allowing Whitley County to secure the 36-point win.
