Creekmore’s 42 points lead McCreary Central past Lynn Camp

CORBIN — The Lynn Camp Lady Wildcats held their own against McCreary Central on Monday, but in the end, had no answer for Maylee Creekmore.

Creekmore poured in a game-high 42 points to lead the Lady Raiders past the Lady Wildcats, 60-46.

James’ Prewitt’s squad held a 44-43 lead entering the fourth quarter before Creekmore scored nine points, leading to her team’s comeback win.

Lauren Partin kept Lynn Camp (1-2) within reach by tallying 28 points while hitting 8-of-10 free throw attempts. Madison Weymers followed with eight points.

“She is an amazing point guard,” Prewitt said. “We don’t have anyone quick enough to guard her, but I’m trying to teach my girls man defense, so we are fighting through some challenges early.

“I am super proud of my girls,” he added. “Madison Weymers stepped up again and led our team. She was a great defender tonight and she did a great job taking care of the ball. Lauren Partin did what she does. She played through adversity and still scored 28 points. Emily Gray did a great job on their center, and Cambree Prewitt, Bella Fox, Aubrey Hollin, and seventh grader, Jayden Petrey all gave some valuable minutes. I challenged our girls tonight to bring more intensity and we won three quarters, but lost the fourth. We have a bright season ahead of us, and we are going to get better.”
