Eli Pietrowski tosses in game-high 24 points to lead Corbin past Jackson County

MCKEE — Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski stressed last week his team’s road matchup with Jackson County had all of the ingredients of being a tough battle.

He said the key for his team was to be prepared entering the game, and they were.

Pietrowski’s squad jumped out to a 19-12 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, recording a 74-58 win over the Generals to even their record to 2-2.

“Hat’s off to Jackson County,” Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “They played well tonight and challenged in numerous different ways. We had some stretches of really good play tonight.I think with time and practice we can strengthen and prolong those periods. It’s. Young season for this group.”

Eli Pietrowski turned in a game-high 24 points while knocking down three 3-pointers. Conner Middleton finished with 18 points while Dawson Farmer scored 12 points and Ryder Akins chipped in 11 points.

“Eli and Conner Middleton really stepped up to the challenge this evening,” Pietrowski said. “They made some big shots and plays for our team. Overall, our balance was good again. Encouraging as a coach. I’m excited to have a few days of practice ahead of us. I think this team can grow leaps and bounds in a short amount of time.”

Braxton Clemons led Jackson County with 16 points while Keagan Ward finished with 13 points and Wyatt Gray scored 11 points.

Corbin will be back in action Saturday at 3 p.m. against Tri-Cities Christian Academy while participating in the Pride of the Mountains Showcase.
