WILLIAMSBURG — Two rivals from the old 50th District faced-off Tuesday when Williamsburg hosted Lynn Camp.
The Lady Yellow Jackets managed to keep their perfect record intact by handing the Lady Wildcats a 44-39 loss.

“First and foremost, I want to mention that tonight we played with intensity and energy,” Williamsburg coach Melissia Douglas said. “These ladies came out ready to play on another level and proved that they’re ready to add to their game defensively. In the second quarter, we struggled a little bit and we ran out of gas. As a coach, I’m just taking this mistake as a learning opportunity.
“These ladies still held their composure and showed determination,” she added. “It’s what I hope will set us apart down the road. Presley Spicer tonight had another stellar performance with a double-double but the other ladies had their share of making moments count. Our seniors leadership on and off the court has been impeccable and then along with other players like Breeding,Evans, Moses, and Hamlin are putting in the hard work and making big plays to contribute to our success. It takes everyone. It’s definitely a team effort. I can’t go without mentioning (Lauren) Partin, she’s exceptional and brings a lot of heart and hard work to the court. She is an awesome model to young ladies today.”
Lauren Partin led the Lady Wildcats with 23 points while Madison Weymers finished with nine points.
“The girls played tired in the first half tonight,” Lynn Camp coach James Prewitt said. “We dug a hole early and we recovered, but we couldn’t get over the hump. We were down 13 at one point and managed to get within three. We had some looks, missed some open shots, and some free throws.
“The girls played a really tough emotional game last night, and they followed it up with another tough and emotional game this evening,” he added. “I am really proud of their willingness to continue to battle to the end. Our kids are working really hard to get better. They are learning to play with each other and for each other. Every day they are improving and in December that is all we can ask them to do.”
