HAZARD — Pineville dropped its first game of the season on Tuesday but not before putting up a fight during first round action of the WYMT Mountain Classic Tournament.
The Mountain Lions (1-1) took a 57-54 lead into the fourth quarter before Breathitt County rallied to win, 72-69.
“Congratulations to Breathitt for winning a great ball game tonight,” Pineville coach Brad Levy said. “They’re a very good team that made one or two more plays than us tonight. This WYMT Mountain Classic experience is exciting for our program and our school. Tonight was a great test for our team against a team favored to win their region. It will only make us better.”
Cam Puckett led Pineville with 21 points, five assists, four steals, and three reboudns while Sawyer Thompson followed with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, and Ashton Moser finished with 15 points, six rebounds, two assists and one steal.
