PINEVILLE — Pineville senior Sawyer Thompson is now the all-time leading scoring after notching his 2,150th career points this past week.
He’s one of the top players in the 13th Region, and always had winning on his mind since putting on the maroon and gold for the Mountain Lions.
“On the first bus trip we went on, the summer I took the Pineville job, going into his 7th grade year, he basically said to me, ‘I know you’re a winner and I am, too. We’re going to do something special here at Pineville.’ I knew then and there he was going to be special,” Pineville coach Brad Levy said. “Sawyer has the unique ability in speaking confidence into people and making those around him better.
“Sawyer is the hardest working player I’ve ever been around including my time around players that went on to play high level college basketball,” he added. “He works hard every day in practice and does more of the extra work on his own than I’ve ever seen. Someone is going to get a steal of a player and person in their program when he decides where to attend college.”
