LONDON — South Laurel capped off the Third Annual Lisa Collins Classic with an impressive 74-44 win over Henry Clay on Saturday while improving to 3-1 during the process.
Maci Messer came out hot, scoring 14 of her game-high 21 points in the first half while Jamie Buenaventura added 10 points. Skeeter Mabe finished with nine points while Shelby Smith added eight points.
“We came out and played solid to start and then start of second half we were sloppy with the ball and took some questionable shots,” South Laurel coach Tod Windlan said. “Our defensive focus was not good as well and once we corrected that, we took off again.
“Had a good performance from Maci Messer and thought Andes, Smith, Bundy, Adams and Fannin came off the bench and gave us a spark,” he added. “Proud of our effort the last two nights and we need a good week of practice to get ready for the Girls Gateway Holiday at Montgomery County. Go Cards.”
