Jaguars improve to 2-0 in 49th District play with 86-29 win over Red Bird

LONDON — Nate Valentine’s North Laurel Jaguars took care of business on Monday, rolling to its second straight 49th District win, defeating Red Bird, 86-29.

Reece Davidson scored 18 of his 22 points in the first quarter while Braydon Hampton hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. Jordan Rawlings and Joe Smith added 10 points apiece.

“We’re happy to be 2-0 in the district,” Valentine said. “Our guys have worked very hard the past three days in practice. We need to have two days of good preparation before we head to Gatlinburg to face a challenging field. We look forward to spending some time together and continuing to grow as a team.”

The Jaguars (5-1) led 33-4 at the end of the first quarter and 53-10 at halftime before outscoring the Cardinals 33-19 in the second half.

North Laurel will now shift its focus to the end of this week’s Smoky Mountain Classic Christmas Tournament. The Jaguars are one of eight teams participating in the event.

North Laurel will face-off Alabama’s Brook High School on Thursday at 8:30 p.m.
