Clemens records game-high 20 point scoring effort to lead Whitley County past Betsy Lane

HYDEN — Aubree Clemens scored a game-high 20 points, leading Whitley County to a 46-36 win over Betsy Layne.

The win improved the Lady Colonels to 7-1, and they’ll enjoy a few days off before getting back in action against Lipscomb Academy on December 27.

Khylea Ray Collier also scored in double figures with 11 points while Maddy Hopkins added eight points.

“Overall, we were not our best offensively,” Whitley County coach Michael Petrey said. “But, we were pretty good defensively. Betsy Layne has some good guards that can go off the dribble and shoot the basketball. We thought overall we did a good job allowing them only one shot. It was nice to get everyone some minutes and continue to develop our bench. We feel like our bench is getting better every game.

“It will be nice to have some days off,” he added. “We are really proud of the way our team shows up to work everyday and their commitment to improving as a team.”
