LOUISVILLE — South Laurel dropped its second straight game on Saturday, falling to Bryan Station, 63-54, in the King of the Bluegrass.
Jordan Mabe led the Cardinals (5-2) with 20 points while Josh Steele had 17 points and Colton Rawlings scored 10 points.
“Really proud of how our guys fought today,” South Laurel coach Jeff Davis said. “Battled all game and just had a few bad possessions. Against really good teams like we have this week, you can’t have those possessions. We learned a lot and its was really good for us.”
South Laurel had trouble slowing down the Defenders’ Amari Owens, who scored a game-high 31 points with 12 of those coming in the fourth quarter.
Bryan Station led 19-11 at the end of the first quarter and 27-25 at halftime. The Defenders led 46-41 heading into the fourth quarter before outscoring the Cardinals, 17-13, in the game’s final eight minutes.
