DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. — The South Laurel Cardinals got back to their winning ways on Friday, snapping a two-game losing skid while defeating Archbishop McCarthy, 60-52, during first round action of the Daytona Beach Sunshine Classic.
The win improved the Cardinals to 6-2 and they’ll be back in action Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
Jordan Mabe led South Laurel with 18 points while Colton Rawlings scored 12 points, and Kaiden McQueen followed with 10 points.
Garrison Brown hit three key 3-pointers in the second half, and finished with nine points. Josh Steele added eight points, and Landon Howard chipped in three points.
The Cardinals led 14-12 at the end of the first quarter, and 24-21 at halftime before pulling away in the second half.
South Laurel outscored Archbishop McCarthy, 21-15, in the third quarter before pulling out the eight-point win.
