The North Laurel Lady Jaguars cross country team took home a first place finish during Saturday’s 15th Annual Wayne County Invitational by finishing with 34 points.
The Lady Jaguars had three runners finish in the top 10 to secure a team championship. Corbin placed second with 74 points while 13th Region teams Lynn Camp (fourth, 126 points), Williamsburg (fifth, 126), Harlan County (seventh, 154), and South Laurel, Oneida Baptist, Clay County, and Whitley County didn’t field enough runners to compete for team championship.
North Laurel’s Taylor Allen placed second with a time of 20:23.95. Whitley County’s Sophy Jones finished third with a time of 21:56.34.
Lynn Camp’s Abby Mabe turned in a fifth place effort (22:10.70) while North Laurel’s Sienna Sizemore (22:16.90), and Riley Vickers (22:22.74) placed sixth and seventh respectively.
Jaycee Frye led Corbin with a time of 22:47.97, which placed her 10th. South Laurel’s rose Stanko turned in a 12th place effort with a time of 23:17.78. Ryan Fields led Williamsburg with a 17th place finish (24:00.11). Olivia Kelly led Harlan County with a 38th place effort with a time of 26:30.14 while Clay County’s Andrea Smith finished 52nd (28:18.80). Oneida Baptist’s Grace Supklang placed 70th with a time of 31:50.54.
