L4 SECURITY 13TH REGION MEDIA NETWORK GIRLS’ SOCCER WEEK FIVE RANKINGS: Lady Redhounds unseat South Laurel as the region’s top-ranked team

1. Corbin (10-3 overall, 3-0 vs. regional foes)

I said this once and I’ll say it again, many folks had counted Corbin out after starting the season 1-3.

But boy, we’re those folks wrong.

The Lady Redhounds are winners of nine straight which includes last week’s win over defending Region champion South Laurel.

One quick thought… are there any better duo than Corbin’s Grace Gibson, and Olivia Jones?

2. South Laurel (7-4, 3-1)

The Lady Cardinals suffered their first regional loss since Oct. 13, 2020 after falling to Corbin in penalty kicks last week.

South Laurel had won 14 consecutive games against regional foes before the loss to the Lady Redhounds.

The Lady Cardinals have hit a rough patch in their schedule. They’ve lost three in a row, and four out of their last seven matches.

3. North Laurel (3-3-1, 1-1)

The Lady Jaguars remained in the third spot after surviving a 5-4 win over Whitley County last week. North Laurel has never lost to the Lady Colonels. The Lady Jaguars are 15-0 against Whitley County.

Jessica Miller’s squad has a chance to move up this week with a match against South Laurel coming up.

4. Whitley County (4-8, 2-3)

The Lady Colonels are better than what their record shows. They came very close to beating North Laurel for the first time in program history.

They have lost four in a row, and six out of their last seven matches, but a favorable schedule coming up could allow Whitley County to get hot at the right time.

5. Middlesboro (7-3, 4-1)

The Lady Yellow Jackets are quietly having a fantastic season. They are now winners of three straight, and four out of their last five matches.

Middlesboro only has two regular season games left, and should win both of them.
