L4 SECURITY 13TH REGION MEDIA NETWORK BOYS’ SOCCER WEEK FIVE RANKINGS: No movement at the top; Corbin, North Laurel remain ranked No. 1 & 2, respectively

1. Corbin (8-5-1 overall, 3-0 vs. regional opponents)

The Redhounds have played the toughest slate in the region, and it’s gonna pay off in the long run.

Corbin had a huge win against Christian Academy-Louisville in the Kentucky 2A State Tournament on Friday before falling to Warren Central in the finals on Saturday.

The Redhounds have a regional showdown with No. 2 North Laurel next week on Tuesday, Sept. 27th — all eyes are on that match. Corbin has won 17 consecutive matches against regional opponents.

2. North Laurel (8-4-2)

After winning seven matches in a row, the Jaguars are 0-2-1. Right now is not the time to be slumping with some tough games ahead.

North Laurel has dealt with injuries throughout the season which has slowed them down a bit at times, but this team is talented enough to make a run at both the district and region crowns — as long as they stay healthy.

3. South Laurel (4-6-2, 1-2)

The Cardinals are looking to gain some momentum before a rough stretch of games come up which include matches against Whitley County, Pulaski County, and Madison Southern.

4. Whitley County (6-6, 6-2)

The Colonels have a chance to snap an 18-game losing streak to South Laurel on Tuesday. If they do win, it would mark the first time in program history they’d have won against the Cardinals.

5. Harlan County (5-5-2, 4-1)

The Black Bears had been rolling but have went 1-2 during their past three games. The good news is none of those losses were against a regional opponent.

Harlan County has a big test Thursday on the road against Whitley County. The Black Bears are 0-9 against the Colonels.
