Redhounds struggle to find consistency during 87-72 loss to Ashland

ASHAND — The lack of consistency bug reared its head once again during Corbin’s road matchup with Ashland Blazer on Friday.

After falling behind 40-26 in the first half, the Redhounds rallied in the second half, but in the end fell, 87-72.

The loss dropped Tony Pietrowski’s squad to 8-2. They have lost two of their last three games.

“We continue to lack consistency,” Pietrowski said. “Too many stretches individually and as a team of bad play to beat the level of competition we are seeing right now.

“Ashland has a very nice basketball team,” he added. “They shoot it extremely well and have a special player in the Carter kid. No one is going to feel sorry for The Redhounds. We have to buckle back down in practice and improve in some areas. If not we aren’t going to see the results we want. We have a tough week of basketball in front of us.”

Ryder Akins led Corbin with 21 points while Conner Blackburn scored 14 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter. He hit four of his five 3-pointers during the period as well.

Dawson Farmer added 10 points, Zach Reynolds scored nine points, Eli Pietrowski chipped in seven points while Connor Middleton scored six points.
