LONDON — South Laurel got back on track, snapping a two-game losing skid while defeating Evangel Christian, 58-37, during Friday’s Raymond Reed Classic.
The Cardinals (7-4) received a 19-point scoring effort from Josh Steele while Jordan Mabe added 15 points. Max Fullmer finished with eight points while Colton Rawlings added six points.
“Good effort, just have to be more efficient and focused on the details of the plan and game,” South Laurel coach Jeff Davis said. “We looked like we didn’t have our legs first half and that is probably my fault but we have to be better mentally and focused.”
Steele had the hot hand in the second half, scoring 13 points during the final two quarters.
South Laurel trailed 11-7 at the end of the first quarter, but claimed a 21-16 lead at halftime as Steele and Mabe scored six points apiece.
Steele added nine points in the third quarter while Made scored seven points, allowing the Cardinals to outscore Evangel Christian, 25-7, to take a comfortable, 46-23 lead into the fourth quarter.
South Laurel will be back in action Saturday at home against Knox Central.
