CORBIN — When it comes to winning games in the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic Tournament, Dinky Phipps is one of the best.
Even with his Lynn Camp Wildcats struggling this season, Phipps’ squad advanced to the semifinals on Saturday by defeating Red Bird, 73-46.
The game was close during the first half when the Wildcats (2-12) building an 18-11 lead as Ethan Chafin scored eight points to lead Lynn Camp.
The Cardinals rallied in the second quarter, outscoring the Wildcats, 18-13, while cutting their deficit to 31-29 at halftime.
Phipps’ squad caught fire in the second half, outscoring Red Bird, 28-4, in the third quarter while building a commanding, 59-33, advantage.
Chafin scored 16 points during the quarter while Elsen Mayo and Jared King scored five points apiece.
Lynn Camp put the game away with three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Chafin led the way with 27 points while King added 13 points for the Wildcats.
