Clem leads Corbin to Kentucky 2A, Section 7 title game

PINEVILLE — Corbin’s Kylie Clem continued her impressive play, scoring all of her team-best 18 points in the first half as the Lady Redhounds advanced to the Kentucky 2A, Section 7 title game with a convincing 64-38 win over McCreary Central.

Clem scored 12 points in the first quarter as the Lady Redhounds built a 21-11 edge while she added six more in the second quarter, helping Corbin (11-2) outscore the Lady Raiders, 23-3, to put the game out of reach.

“Anytime you can advance in tournament play, it’s good for your program,” Corbin coach Isaac Wilson said. “We were able to get all of our kids some valuable time which will only pay dividends for the future.

“We are excited for the opportunity to compete for the championship and understand that it’s an honor to represent your region anytime you get a chance,” he added. “It’s been a tough week for basketball across the state due to weather and has really made it challenging keeping kids in shape and on a schedule of any kind. We will continue to control what we can control moving forward and will be ready to compete when the finals happen.”

Izzy Walker added 12 points for Corbin while Addy Wilson chipped in 11 points.
