MIDDLESBORO — Ava Arnett torched the nets for 25 points while Madison Johnson added 18 points, Kamryn Biliter scored 15 points and Rachel Howard finished with 10 points to lead Pineville past Lynn Camp, 71-42, on Sunday during first round action of the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic.
The game was close early with the Lady Mountain Lions holding a 23-20 edge, but they outscored the Lady Wildcats the remainder of the game, 48-22.
“I am always proud of my girls and the way they battle,” Lynn Camp coach James Prewitt said. “We made it a three point game late in the second quarter, but then we had some breakdowns, and Pineville made some big shots from 3 to push it out to 17 at the break.
“We were our own worst enemy at times today,” he added. “We had north of 35 turnovers, and some of that is definitely credited to Pineville’s defense, but a lot of it we have to own and fix.
“We really hope to return back to school and some normalcy soon,” Prewitt continued. “We seem to play much better when we are in a routine. We have about six weeks of season left, we are going to keep pushing. We hear a lot of positive feedback about our growth, and our girls are definitely improving, but we aren’t where we want to be.”
Aubrey Hollin led Lynn Camp with 10 points while Madison Weymers added nine points. Lauren Partin and Cambree Prewitt scored eight points apiece.
