MIDDLESBORO — Sally Adams’ Middlesboro Lady Yellow Jackets stunned the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic landscape by posting a 3-0 record in tournament play while defeating Harlan, 62-53, in the title game.
It was the second time in six years (2019) that Middlesboro had captured the 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic title.
“I’m just so proud of the girls,” Adams said. “I know I keep saying this, but no one knows how hard they have worked.”
Keevi Betts scored a game-high 31 points in the win while hitting 8-of-10 free throw attempts. Emily Lambert followed with 10 points while Millie Roberts scored nine points.
The game was close throughout with the Lady Yellow Jackets and Harlan tied at 28 apiece at halftime before Middlesboro took over in the second half.
The Lady Yellow Jackets took a 45-38 lead into the fourth quarter before securing the win in the fourth quarter as Roberts scored six points in the final eight minutes while Betts added five points.
Aymanni Wynn led Harlan with 24 points while Peyshaunce Wynn added 11 points.
