Corbin hits 90-point plateau for the second time during district win over Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — Tony Pietrowski’s Corbin Redhounds followed their win over South Laurel earlier in the week with another district victory on Friday, defeating Williamsburg, 92-66.

The Redhounds were hitting on all cylinders as two players scored more than 20 points while four players scored in double figures.

Connor Middleton tossed in a game-high 28 points while Ryder Akins finished with 23 points.

Conner Blackburn started the game red-hot hitting four 3-pointers while scoring all 14 of his points in the first quarter. Lucas Brittain followed with 11 points.

“Overall, pleased with the way we played tonight offensively,” Pietrowski said. “We attacked them well, shared the ball and made shots. Would have liked us to buy in a bit more on the defensive side of the ball. Too many missed assignments for the standards we have.

“Conner Blackburn and Lucas really got us going early,” he added. “Connor Middleton then took over late for us. Ryder had a solid game as well. (It’s) Important we put together a good stretch of practices. We have some areas that need improvement, as well as some big games in front of us.”

Lakin Cunagin led Williamsburg with six 3-pointers and 18 points while Andrew Smith hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 points. Cooper Prewitt followed with 10 points while Nate Goodin and Reece Hatcher scored nine points apiece.
