LONDON — Whitley County continued its winning ways during Saturday’s Roy Bowling Classic.
The Lady Colonels cruised to an easy 56-33 win over Leslie County while improving to 11-5 during the process.
“We got off to a really slow start today, but we are proud of our team for bouncing back and getting a win,” Whitley County coach Michael Petrey said. “I thought Aubree, Maddy and Jonna did a great job on the boards today and Cami and Autumn defended a very quick Leslie County guard well. Khylea Ray got going in the second half and was able to knock down some 3s.”
Despite getting off to a slow start, Whitley County managed to take a 10-5 lead with five different players scoring in the first quarter.
The Lady Colonels led 20-13 at halftime as Cambree Price tossed in six points during the second quarter.
Aubree Clemens scored six points in the third quarter while Maddy Hopkins and Jonna Rice added four points apiece to push Whitley County’s lead to 37-24 entering the fourth quarter.
The Lady Colonels knocked down four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter as Khylea Ray Collier hit two of them to help her team pick up the 23-point win.
Price led Whitley County with 13 points while Clemens added 12 points. Collier finished with nine points, and Hopkins added eight points.
