Jaguars fire on all cylinders during 90-66 win over Pineville 

MANCHESTER — Don’t look now but the North Laurel Jaguars are beginning to catch fire. The Jaguars have averaged 88.5 points per game during their last two contest, which included Saturday’s season-best 90-point output against 13th Region All ‘A’ Classic champion Pineville.

North Laurel had six players score in double figures during its 90-66 win over the Mountain Lions.

“Proud of our guys for their effort today,” North Laurel coach Nate Valentine said. “We did a great job moving the basketball and taking good shots. We were much better defensively in the second half. I really liked our passion and togetherness the past two days.”

North Laurel took control early in the game by building a 24-17 lead heading into the second quarter.

Kole Jervis scored 10 of his 13 points during the period while Reece Davidson added eight of his game-high 23 points. He also finished with 13 rebounds and four assists. 

The Jaguars’ lead grew to 48-35 at halftime as Cooper Elza scored eight of his 14 points during the second quarter while Corey Cunnagin, Davidson and RJ Noble scored four points apiece.

Noble added seven points in the third quarter while Jordan Rawlings hit two 3-pointers and chipped in six of his 11 points to give their team a comfortable 71-52 edge entering the fourth quarter.

Noble also scored in double figures, finishing with 13 points while Cunnagin added 10 points. 

North Laurel finished the game hitting 28-of-47 shot attempts, including a 7-of-16 effort from 3-point range. The Jaguars out-rebounded Pineville, 46-25.

The Mountain Lions were led by Sawyer Thompson’s 21 points while Jeremiah Beck added 19 points, and Ashton Moser finished with 16 points.

Pineville hit 26-of-62 shot attempts, including a 4-of-16 effort from 3-point range.
