Red-hot Redhounds remain perfect in 50th District play with win over Whitley County 

WILLIAMSBURG — Connor Middleton and Ryder Akins put up the points while Eli Pietrowski manned the boards during Corbin’s 80-62 win over Whitley County on Monday.

Middleton dished out 23 points while Akins added 21 points in the win, and Pietrowski recorded seven points and 12 rebounds.

The win improved Corbin to 11-5 overall and 2-0 against district opponents while the Colonels falls to 12-7, and 1-3.

“Another solid performance for our team tonight,” Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “We were really sharp early on both sides of the ball. I’m excited to pick up another district win.

“Connor Middleton and Ryder both had a big game for us,” he added. “Eli worked the glass for us a majority of the night as well. From that point we had good balance scoring it again. We have had some good stretches of practices and games. It’s important we continue to grow as individuals and a team. We have a chance to be really good.”

Dawson Farmer also scored in double figures for the Redhounds, finishing with 11 points while Conner Blackburn added seven points. 

Corbin led from the get-go, building a 24-12 edge entering the second quarter while pushing its lead to 50-27 at halftime. The Redhounds entered the fourth quarter with a 66-41 advantage.

Bryson Mahan led Whitley County with 26 points while Levin Jackson added 11 points, and Garrett Sharp added eight points.
