North Laurel remains perfect at 17-0 with 45-point rout of Wayne County

MOUNT VERNON — Another game, and another win for Eddie Mahan’s North Laurel Lady Jaguars.

North Laurel’s unblemished record now stands at 17-0 after putting on another dominating display of basketball during Saturday’s Lady Rocket Classic matchup with Wayne County.

The Lady Jaguars built a 25-5 lead in the first quarter and led 44-10 at halftime, and never looked back during their 67-22 rout of the Lady Cardinals.

“Wayne County is a well-coached team,” Mahan said. “Brooke (Nichelson) only played a few minutes due to a minor injury so today was a good chance for some of our younger players to get some good experience early in a game.”

Bella Sizemore had the hot hand early on, hitting three 3-pointers in the first quarter, and finishing with a game-high 17 points and five 3-pointers. Paisley Kilburn added three 3-pointers and finished with 12 points while Abby Hubbard chipped in 11 points. Mariella Claybrook added nine points while Brooke Nichelson and Bella Mahan scored six points apiece.
