SECOND HALF COMEBACK: Lady Cardinals fight back from 4-2 second half deficit to beat North Laurel, 6-4

South Laurel scored four unanswered goals in the second half to knock off crosstown rival North Laurel, 6-4, on Monday.

The Lady Cardinals (8-4) snapped a three-game losing skid while winning their fourth in  row against the Lady Jaguars (3-4-1).

North Laurel got off to one of its best starts offensively this season.

Mikaela Moore got things going with a goal just a minute and a half into the contest before South Laurel’s Morgan Taylor assisted Gracie Hoskins’ goal three minutes later to tie the match at one apiece.

Hoskins added another goal during the 20th minutes after receiving an assist from Belle Dotson to give the Lady Cardinals a 2-1 lead but that’s when the Lady Jaguars took over during the final 20 minutes of the first half.

Makayla Mastin scored two goals in less than five minutes to give North Laurel a 3-2 edge during the 25th minute before Lauren Crouch scored a goal after ricocheting a shot attempt off the keeper, allowing the Lady Jaguars to enter halftime with a 4-2 advantage.

South Laurel came out in the second half, and played like a totally different team.

Josie Gill’s goal during the 50th minute cut the Lady Cardinals’ deficit to 4-3 while Ella Rison’s Penalty Kick during the 61st minute tied the game at four apiece.

Hoskins and Belle Dotson added a goal apiece during the game’s final eight minutes to deal the 6-4 win for the Lady Cardinals.
