PINEVILLE — Bell County snapped Harlan County’s 22-game 13th Region win streak by handing the defending 13th Region champions a 79-65 loss on Tuesday.
The win improved the Bobcats, who have now won five in a row, to 17-4 while the Black Bears fall to 16-6.
“It was a great win for our team,” Bell County coach Brad Sizemore said. “I’m really happy for our kids. We were down eight at halftime and could’ve folded, but we showed a lot of heart. We had several guys step up on both ends of the floor and play fearless. We have a lot of respect for Harlan County and their team, but we really like our kids and think we have a chance to play with anyone on our schedule moving forward.”
Bell County trailed 16-15 at the end of the first quarter and 36-28 at halftime before outscoring Harlan County, 51-29, in the second half.
Blake Burnett poured in 29 points (24 in the second half) while hitting four 3-pointers. Ethan Buell hit 4-of-5 from 3-point range while scoring 19 points. Cameron Hall hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points.
The Bobcats hit 13-of-22 from 3-point territory while finishing 29-of-48 from the floor.
