Redhounds come out firing on all cylinders, hit 14 3s during 87-49 win over Williamsburg

CORBIN — Corbin’s Ryder Akins continued his impressive play, scoring 20 points and hitting five treys to help guide the Redhounds to an easy 87-49 50th District win over Williamsburg.

Joining Akins in doubles figures were Conner Blackburn, Dawson Farmer and Zach Reynolds.

Blackburn hit four 3-pointers while dishing out 18 points as Farmer added 13 points, and Reynolds finished with 12 points.

The win improved Corbin to 13-5 overall, and 4-0 against 50th District opponents while Williamsburg falls to 12-6, and 0-4.

“Shot the ball really well, stayed within ourselves offensively and got good minutes from multiple guys,” Corbin coach Tony Pietrowski said. “Always good to get a district win. Our kids have had good focus and effort in our practices. Important we keep that mentality.”

Corbin got out of the gate fast, taking a 29-17 lead into the second quarter behind 14 points and four 3-pointers by Akins while Blackburn added two 3-pointers and six points. 

The Redhounds’ lead grew to 56-33 at halftime as Farmer added eight points, and Blackburn scored seven points.

Corbin continued to roll in the second half, outscoring the Yellow Jackets, 31-16.

Nate Goodin and Lakin Cunagin led Williamsburg with 15 points apiece.
