WILLIAMSBURG — Two games in less than a day didn’t seem to bother Eric Swords’ Whitley County Colonels on Saturday.
Fresh off a win over rival Williamsburg, Whitley County came out of the gate strong against Owsley County and recorded a 78-57 win, improving to 15-7 during the process.
“Great response from our guys today after a heated district game the night before,” Swords said. “We were able to build a big halftime lead and get some guys mins in the 2nd half while working on some things. We will spend these next couple weeks trying to sure everything up as we head into District play. Proud of our team.”
Bryson Mahan led Whitley County with 19 points, scoring nine of those in the first quarter. Henry Bowling added 15 points while Riley Fuson followed with 14 points.
The Colonels have games against and Pineville this week.
