Corbin Swim team shines during 9th Region Swimming Championships

BARBOURVILLE — The Corbin High School Swim team turned in a stellar effort during the 9th Region Swimming Championshps this past weekend.
Senior Swimmers Maddie Partin, Hannah Perry, and Chancey Campbell all swam best times and had best finishes to end their swimming careers at Corbin.
Chancey Campbell, along with teammates Aiden Senel, Blake Butler, and Kendoll Barton qualified for the first round of the state finals in the 200 Medley Relay.
They will be joined by the 400 Free Relay team composed of AIden Senel, Liam Flynn, Kendoll Barton, and Blake Butler. Levi Barton will be the alternate on those relays at State Meet.
Along with the two relay teams, Freshman Aiden Senel qualified in both of his individual events and will swim not only on the two relays but also swim the 100 fly and the 500 freestyle.
The first round of the state finals is at Scott High School on Saturday, Feb 8th.
“We are extremely proud of all of our Redhound swimmers,” Corbin coach Kim Moore said. “Our boys’ team finished third while our girls’ team finished eight.
“As a combined team we were sixth overall,” she added. “We could not have asked for them to do any better, they were amazing. Our CMS swimmers Julia Butler, Ella Hammons, Brady Sowders, Jacob Ross, and Liam Flynn all swam best times in their individual events and all of them were members of relay teams that placed at Region Finals. Jaslyn Harrell, Addie Fields, and Madison Justice are all Juniors this year and had their best meet. We look forward to having them back next year.”
