HARLAN — The third matchup between Bell County and Harlan County was just as good, if not better, than the first two.
The Bobcats’ Cayden Huff connected with a last-second shot to give Bell County a 54-52 win over the Black Bears.
The Bobcats lived up to their L4 Security 13th Region Media Network No. 1 ranking, doing just enough to defeat No. 2 ranked Harlan County.
“It was a great game from start to finish we came into the game knowing it was gonna be a hard one on the road,” Belo County coach Brad Sizemore said. “Our kids are playing with a lot of confidence right now, playing for each other and learning how to win tough games. It was awesome to see Cayden Huff get the offensive rebound and put it in at the horn to win it. I’m happy for all of our kids on our team. We just need to continue to work and get better heading into the home stretch of the season.”
The win improved the Bobcats to 21-4 while wrapping up the 52nd District’s top seed with a 5-1 mark. The loss dropped the Black Bears to 17-7 and 1-2 against district opponents.
Blake Burnett led Bell County with 18 points while Cameron Hall finished with 13 points. Huff and Ethan Buell scored 10 points apiece.
Maddox Huff led Harlan County with 19 points while Brody Napier added 16 points.
