HARLAN — For the second consecutive season, a Harlan County player has been named KABC 13th Region Boys’ Player of the Year.
Senior Maddox Huff is now a finalist for the Mr. Basketball award along with getting an invite to try out for the Kentucky All-Stars after garnering the POY award.
He leads the Black Bears with a 29.6 scoring average and an 8.3 rebounding average.
“You hear a lot of people say this kid or that kid puts in extra time, or gets up extra shots, I would like to find a way to compare those hours and shots to Maddox Huff’s,” Harlan County coach Kyle Jones said. “He has mad himself into a great player, there are several good players in our state, but Maddox has put his name in another category, which is the category of great players. I am extremely proud to say I am his coach.
He has improved every year he has played at the high school level, and I don’t look for that to change he when he enters college either . However, every individual award he receives, he would trade all of those for team wins and awards, that is the type of kid and teammate he is.”
