52nd District Stunner: No. 4 seed Harlan County punches ticket into 13th Region Tourney with 59-51 win over Bell County 

HARLAN COUNTY — It didn’t take long for an upset to take place during 13th Region postseason play.

Gary Greer’s No. 4 seeded Harlan County Lady Black Bears (9-21) stunned top seeded Bell County (19-9) during first round action of Monday’s 52nd District Tournament by rolling to a 59-51 win.

Harlan County, who had a 1-5 district record entering the game, led 27-21 at halftime, and continued to put pressure on the Lady Bobcats throughout the game as the Lady Black Bears earned a bid into next week’s 13th Region Tournament with the win.

Raegan Clem came up big, hitting five 3-pointers while scoring 17 points while Jaycee Simpson scored 14 points and hit two 3-pointers. Kyler Runions scored 11 points and hit two 3-pointers while Jaylee Cochran chipped in 10 points.

Kairi Lamb led Bell County with 25 points while Lauren McGeorge finished with 19 points.
