JELLICO, TENN. — Nikki Hendrix’s Lynn Camp Lady Wildcats improved to 3-0 while defeating Jellico, Tenn. for the second time this week on Friday.
The Lady Wildcats hit the road and pulled off an 18-7 win, but the game was a whole lot closer than the final score indicated.
Lynn Camp held an 8-6 lead entering the fifth inning before exploding for 10 runs to out the game away. The Lady Blue Devils pushed across a run in the bottom of the fifth inning, but didn’t get any closer.
“We didn’t play our best game tonight, but we still managed to put up a good fight and come away with the win,” Hendrix said. “We started out hitting the ball pretty well and then went cold for an inning or two and then they came alive in the last inning. I’m glad we were able to school runs when we had runners on base. We made some good defensive place as well. This team is continuing to grow and get better. I just hope they realize how good they can be when they reach their full potential.”
Bailey Martin led the Lady Wildcats with a 4-for-4 effort, driving in two runs, and scoring twice while Lauren Partin had three hits, three RBI, and three runs scored. Julie Moore delivered three hits, an RBI, and scored three times while Charity Steele finished with two hits, an RBI, and three runs scored. Madison Weymers delivered two hits, three RBI, and three runs scored while Emma Burnette had two hits, an RBI, and a run scored. Gabby Thomas finished with two hits, two RBI, and a run scored.
Moore improved to 3-0, tossing five innings, allowing four hits and four earned runs while striking out three batters.
