Kelly Sawyers’ Whitley County Lady Colonels needed a win in the worst way, and they got it on Thursday by collecting a 4-1 victory over Wayne County.
The Lady Colonels (5-9) entered the match riding a season-worst five-game losing skid, and seven of their last eight matches.
Goals by Deserae Haynes (18th minute) and Maddy Earls (33rd) gave Whitley County a 2-1 lead at halftime.
Haynes and Autumn Sawyers added one goal apiece during the second half to help the Lady Colonels to secure the three-goal win.
Whitley a county will travel to play Knox Central on Monday.
