Colonels celebrate dedication of Jeremy Shope Field with win over Harlan 

WILLIAMSBURG — The dedication of Jeremy Shope Field took place Monday and Whitley County celebrated in a big way, jumping out to a 14-0 lead against Harlan before rolling to a 17-2 victory.

The Colonels (7-1) scored early and often, pushing across seven runs in the first inning before adding four runs in the second inning and three runs in the third inning. The Green Dragons scored two runs in the top of the fourth inning before Whitley County wrapped up the win with three runs in the bottom of the fourth.

“Great team win tonight on a special evening,” Shope said. “Thank you to everyone who was a part of this night.Proud to be a Colonel.”

EJ Allen continued his impressive season on the mound, picking up the win while tossing three hitless and scoreless innings while striking out four batters. Clint Partin tossed an inning, allowing one hit and no earned runs. He struck out two batters.

Jason Nunley came up huge at the plate, turning in a 3-for-3 effort with two RBI, and three runs scored. Dee Parker was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and two runs scored while Spencer Bargo had a hit and four RBI. Ty Petrey had a hit, two RBI, and two runs scored while EJ Allen had a hit, and an RBI. Henry Bowling drove in two runs and scored once while Ronald Osborne finished with a hit, and two runs scored. Caden Mountjoy scored twice while Kaden Powers scored once. Eli Powers finished with a hit and a run scored while Landen Rose drove in a run and scored twice. Kip Allen also scored a run.
