The duo of Daniel Thomas and Dawson Woolum continued to dominate during Week Six action against McCreary Central.
Thomas and Woolum combined for seven rushing touchdowns during Bell County’s 56-24 win over the Raiders on Log Mountain.
Thomas finished with four touchdowns while Woolum added three as the Bobcats improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in district play.
Bell County’s defense also set up two scores thanks to two interceptions.
The Bobcats will take their three-game win streak to Rockcastle County on Friday to see if they can get past Chris Larkey’s Rockets.
Bell County’s defense forced McCreary Central to punt on its first possession, and the Bobcats’ offensive attack responded by driving down the field and scoring a touchdown.
The Raiders didn’t have an answer for Bell County’s ground game as Dawson Woolum raced 48 yards to the end zone, giving his team a 7-0 lead with 9:43 left in the first quarter.
McCreary continued to hang tough with Blake Botts scoring from eight yards out to cut his team’s deficit to 7-6 with 40 seconds left in the first quarter.
Bell County answered in one offensive play.
Blake Burnett connected with Daniel Thomas for a 65-yard touchdown score, giving the Bobcats a 14-6 advantage entering the second quarter.
The Raiders had a chance to tie in the second quarter but multiple penalties forced them to punt.
Bell County took over on offense and Thomas did damage running with the ball.
He raced 59 yards for a touchdown at the 10:48 mark of the second quarter moving the Bobcats’ lead to 21-8.
An interception by Blake Burnett set up Thomas’ seven-yard touchdown run with 6:03 remaining in the first half while giving Bell County a 28-6 cushion.
Bell County’s defense continued to make big plays as an interception by George Pace set up Woolum’s 19-yard touchdown run, pushing the Bobcats lead to 34-8 at the 5:07 mark fo the second quarter.
The Raiders did manage to score with 10 seconds left in the first half as Peyton Higginbotham completed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Cecil to make the score, 34-12 at halftime.
Bell County continued to roll in the second half.
Thomas was unstoppable running the ball on the Bobcats’ first possession in the third quarter. His 36-yard run set up his 13-yard touchdown while a nine-yard touchdown run by Woolum allowed Bell County to secure a 48-12 advantage with 2:57 remaining in the third quarter.
Freshman James Neal added a 41-yard touchdown score to round up the scoring for Bell County.
