HARLAN — South Laurel pitcher Will Alsip turned in a gem in Thursday, recording a complete game shutout while limiting Harlan County to only three hits, and finishing with 10 strikeouts to lead the Cardinals to a 5-0 road win.
The five-run win snapped South Laurel’s (14-5) three-game losing skid.
The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead in the second inning while adding a run in the fourth inning before adding two insurance runs in the seventh inning.
Jack Vaughn led the way at the plate with two hits, and two runs scored while Waylon Hensley had two hits, and scored once. Bryson Turner and Keaton Creech delivered run-scoring hits while Vince Sizemore and Alsip also had hits in the win.
