L4 SECURITY 13TH REGION MEDIA NETWORK VOLLEYBALL WEEK SIX RANKINGS: Corbin remains No. 1, Whitley County not far behind at the two-spot

1. Corbin (11-4 overall, 10-2 vs. 13th Region opponents)

The Lady Redhounds saw their four-game win streak come to an end last week with their loss to Southwestern, but they continue to be the most consistent team in the region.

They play South Laurel this week before getting a huge test in this weekend’s Halloween Smash at Lafayette High School.

2. Whitley County (15-9, 9-1)

The Lady Colonels picked up big wins over both North Laurel and Williamsburg this past week.

Coach David Halcomb continues to test his team with a tough slate, and that will have the Lady Colonels’ tournament tested once postseason play begins.

3. North’s Laurel (17-10, 8-3)

The Lady Jaguars lost a key match to Whitley County this past week. Their three regional losses are to the top two teams in the region — Corbin, and Whitley County (twice).

North Laurel should finish regular season play strong the next two weeks with a favorable schedule coming up.

4. Bell County (14-7, 12-2)

I say this every week but the Lady Bobcats quietly continue to win while preparing themselves for a deep postseason run. Bell County’s win streak is now at a 13th Region-best seven games. They have won 20 sets during the streak while dropping only two.

5. South Laurel (3-8, 2-4)

The Lady Cardinals just can’t seem to get anything going currently. It’s a shocker to see them only have three wins at this point of the season.

6. Knox Central (10-4, 10-4)

The Lady Panthers are winners of four straight and will be tested Monday at home against Williamsburg. This should be one of the best matches of the region this week.

7. Williamsburg (8-13, 6-7)

The Lady Yellow Jackets remain a dangerous team but they’ve struggled of late, winning only one out of their last eight matches.

8. Jackson County (6-10, 4-4)

The Lady Generals just can’t seem to get any momentum going. It looked as if they were doing just that last week with consecutive wins but losses to Breathitt County, and Williamsburg now have them riding a two-game losing skid.

9. Harlan County (5-8, 5-5)

The Lady Black Bears are another team that can’t find any consistency. They are 2-6 during their past eight games.

10. Pineville (8-11, 8-5)

Welcome back to the top 10 Lady Mountain Lions. Pineville had a heck of a week, beating both Harlan and Lynn Camp.

Games against Red Bird, Knox Central, and Barbourville are on the slate for this week. Has Pineville improved enough to beat the Lady Panthers?
