L4 SECURITY 13TH REGION MEDIA NETWORK BOYS’ SOCCER WEEK SIX RANKINGS: Hounds remain No. 1 despite recent back-to-back losses

1. Corbin (10-6-1 overall, 3-0 vs. 13th Region opponents)

The Redhounds were riding a season-long two-game losing skid until they defeated John Hardin on Saturday. Coach Armando Cima l’s squad has a big 49th District matchup with No. 2 North Laurel on Tuesday.

The winner between the two teams will lock up the district tournament’s No. 1 seed.

2. North Laurel (8-5-2, 3-0)

The Jaguars were cursing along until two weeks ago. They’re 0-3-1 since Sept. 12 and really need a win against Somerset Monday to have some type of momentum entering Tuesday’s crucial matchup with Corbin. The winner of the game will come away with the 49th District’s top seed.

3. South Laurel (7-6-2, 4-2)

The Cardinals are the hottest team in the region. They’re winners of four consecutive matches with hopes of continuing the streak this week with road games against Pulaski County, Madison Southern at Barbourville.

4. Whitley County (7-7, 1-3)

The Colonels haven’t had a bad season but they just can’t seem to get over the hump against district opponents. Whitley County has won two in a row and look to finish the regular season out with games against Russell County, Middlesboro and Somerset Christian.

5. Harlan County (5-6-2, 4-2).

The Black Bears have lost three of their last four matches with Knox Central and Barbourville coming up.
